Who is the course for?
The Bachelor in Community Management (BCM) is offered to Indigenous students in intensive block mode. The degree offers a comprehensive grounding in community management and governance, Indigenous identity and culture and academic and IT literacies and focuses on the knowledge, skills and abilities required by graduates in diverse contemporary contexts. The program addresses the needs of Indigenous students who may work in community contexts, in government, community and non-profit organizations as well as in the private sector and incorporates web-based and e-learning activities to enhance and complement the intensive on campus program.
Enrolment
Applicants are required to fill in a BCM Application Form and submit it to Warawara Department of Indigenous Studies by the cut-off date (usually by the end of October for entry into the course in the following year), for closing dates, please call Warawara-Department of Indigenous Studies on 02 8950 8893 or freecall 1800 066 465.
A Testing & Assessment Program (TAP) is planned for November each year for applicants. Applicants may be required to attend an on-campus session depending on their previous educational attainment.
If an applicant is required to attend TAP, Centrelink will organise and fund travel, accommodation and meals but in order to receive assistance, the applicant needs to fill in the Centrelink form D. This form can be downloaded from the

TAP is designed to give applicants the opportunity to demonstrate:
1. Sufficient literacy to properly access and process the readings & resources associated with the course.
2. Work and/or community experience (either paid or unpaid) in relevant areas.
3. Their understanding of the course.
4. How this course is relevant to their career aspirations and what they want to do in the future.
5. Email and internet access - enough to be able to do the required learning activities between the on-campus blocks.
Applicants are also asked to reflect on their own life circumstances and the degree to which they feel that their environment will allow / support their study.
Next intake
31 October - Contact Warawara Department of Indigenous Studies and return BCM Application Form
Mid- November - Participate in BCM TAP
Early December - Applicants informed as to their success or otherwise. Successful applicants fill in and Submit Centrelink /Abstudy Form for full-time study the following year.
Early-February (the following year) - Successful applicants attend the first BCM on campus residential school (Block) and complete enrolment into the course

Any Aboriginal or a Torres Strait Islander person is eligible and must be 21 years of age or older. How much help you can get from ABSTUDY depends on your individual circumstance.

(d) Accommodation options?
We provide on campus accommodation with all meals and transport to block release included. You must be an approved student through Abstudy.
(e) Travel - Who flies?
Students who live more than 18 hrs by bus or 36 hrs by train are eligible to fly. Those with a medical condition are flown to Sydney.
